Excerpts from the opening speech – Prof. Dr. Timur Gültekin

“Dear guests, distinguished participants, dear friends,
I greet you with the warmest feelings and express my joy and honor to be here today, alongside you, on the occasion of the Romanian Language Day.
Today, we are not just celebrating a language. We are simultaneously celebrating the way languages unite people, build bridges from the past to the future, and transform cultures into friendships.
The friendly relations between Turkey and Romania are based not only on geographical proximity but also on historical and cultural ties that have lasted for centuries.
(…)
The Romanian language is not just a communication tool; it is identity, it is a narrator of history, it is a carrier of culture. To honor the Romanian language also means showing respect for the history, art, and values of the Romanian people.
(…)
Therefore, every Turkish student who learns Romanian and every Romanian student who learns Turkish adds a new stone to this bridge of friendship.”
